Brilliant supports the First Alert app (powered by Resideo). You can link your First Alert account to Brilliant and control your compatible thermostats, leak detectors, and water shutoff valves from your Brilliant Control.

How to Connect Your First Alert Account
- On your Brilliant Control, go to Settings
- Select Works With
- Tap First Alert
- Sign in with your First Alert account credentials
- Your compatible devices will appear and can be added to Brilliant
Note: You will only be able to connect your First Alert account and add devices from a Brilliant Control. Once you do that, the devices will appear in the Brilliant Mobile app. We will be adding to the mobile app in the future.
If You Have an Existing Resideo App Account Linked
If you previously connected a Resideo (formerly Honeywell Home) account to Brilliant, adding a First Alert account will remove those Resideo-linked devices from Brilliant. So you can only have 1 app connected to Brilliant - Resideo (formerly Honeywell Home) OR First Alert.
If you’d like to stop using Resideo app and start using First Alert with Brilliant, you can:
- Add your Resideo devices to the First Alert app
- Re-add them to Brilliant using the new First Alert integration
If You Have an Existing Total Connect 2.0 Account Linked
If you have a Total Connect 2.0 account linked to Brilliant, those integrations continue to work as before. You do not need to switch to First Alert and you can have both TC 2.0 and First Alert apps connected to Brilliant at the same time.
What You Can Do
Once connected, First Alert devices appear and function the same way as they did through the Resideo integration:
- View the current temperature and set a target temperature on supported thermostats
- See the current status of your leak detector
- Open or close your water shutoff valve
- Use devices as part of Brilliant Scenes
Troubleshooting
My devices are not showing up after I connect. Make sure your devices are added and active in the First Alert app before linking to Brilliant. Devices must be online and associated with the account you used to sign in.
I linked my First Alert account but my old thermostat is gone. If you had a Resideo account previously linked to Brilliant, those devices were removed when you added your First Alert account. Add those devices to the First Alert app and re-add them to Brilliant.
I do not see a First Alert option in Works With. Make sure your Brilliant Control software is up to date. Go to Settings > About to check your current version. Note, this will not appear in the Brilliant Mobile app for now.
