When you subscribe to Brilliant Max on the yearly plan, you can upgrade your controls to a 2nd Generation Brilliant faceplate. This article covers who qualifies, what it costs, and how to order.
Who can use the Upgrade Program
The Upgrade Program is available if you:
- Are on the Brilliant Max yearly plan, and
- Started the subscription yourself (not through a professional installer)
You become eligible once your 30-day free trial ends, or right away if you chose to skip the trial. The program isn't available on the monthly plan.
What it costs
Upgrade faceplates are priced by gang size:
- 1-gang: $239
- 2-gang: $249
- 3-gang: $259
- 4-gang: $269
You can order as many faceplates as you need to replace the ones in your home.
How to order
- Once your yearly subscription is active, you'll get an email with a link to the upgrade order form. You can also find it in the Brilliant app under Settings>Brilliant Max.
- Open the form and choose which faceplate sizes you want and how many.
- Submit it. Our support team confirms your subscription and prepares your order.
- You'll receive an invoice by email. Complete the payment to place your order.
- We ship your new faceplate to you along with return shipping labels.
- Send your existing First Gen faceplates back via the return shipping labels.

Installing your new faceplate
The new faceplate swaps onto your existing Brilliant Control, and your rooms, settings, and automations stay exactly as they are. Step-by-step instructions are included in the box, and Brilliant Support is happy to walk you through it if you'd like a hand.
FAQ
How is this different than buying a new 2nd Gen Control? This program is just for replacing your faceplates at a discounted price and leaving the back plate of the control in the wall, so you don't need to rewire anything. The faceplate upgrades do not come with a back plate and cannot function on their own without an existing backplate.
Can I use the Upgrade Program on the monthly plan? No. It's available on the yearly plan only.
My subscription was set up by my installer. Am I eligible? The program is for subscriptions you start yourself. If your plan is managed by a Pro, talk to your installer about hardware upgrades.
How many faceplates can I order? As many as you need to replace 1st Gen faceplates that you have.
Will I lose my settings when I swap faceplates? No. Your configuration is tied to your account and carries over.
