Brilliant Max works with two Shelly sensors: the Shelly BLU door/window sensor ZB and the Shelly BLU motion sensor. They add coverage to Presence Alerts in Away Mode and Vacation Mode.
You do not need the Shelly app. You add and manage these sensors right in Brilliant.
Add a sensor
- In the Brilliant app, go to add a device and choose to add a Shelly sensor.
- Brilliant finds the sensor over Bluetooth. Make sure the sensor is powered on and nearby.
- Add the sensor to your home.
- Assign it to a room.
- Give it a name.
Repeat for each sensor.
Range: keep sensors near a Control
Each Shelly sensor needs to be within about 30 feet of a Brilliant Control to stay connected. If a sensor is too far from any Control, move it closer or add a Control to that area. Support for extending range with a Shelly BLU Gateway is coming soon.
How sensors are used
Sensor status feeds Presence Alerts. When Away Mode or Vacation Mode is running, a triggered motion or door/window sensor starts the Presence Alert (see "Presence Alerts"). At GA all of your Brilliant Controls, switches, and Shelly sensors are used; choosing which specific sensors are used is coming soon.
Getting more sensors
Your subscription includes one free door/window sensor (see "Your free Shelly sensor"). You can buy additional Shelly door/window and motion sensors from Brilliant. More sensors mean better coverage and accuracy.
