There are a few steps to remove your old light switch.
- First, verify that power is turned OFF. More information about turning OFF power at your circuit breaker or fuse box is here.
- Remove your old light switch plate by unscrewing or pulling off its front panel, and then unscrewing the switch from the gang box located in the wall. You may also want to use a voltage meter to check that power to all of the wires in the gang box is off.
- We recommend taking a photo of the wires connected to your existing switch at this point, in case you need to reference it later.
