Why do we have advanced settings for Motion?
The performance of the motion sensor can be impacted by a number of factors, from the amount of direct sunlight to the size of a room.
If your device is not giving you the response to the motion that you desire for your Device(s) or Display, you can tune the thresholds to your personal preference and accommodate for any environmental factors in:
- For the motion sensor on your Control: Settings > Motion > Advanced Motion Settings.
- For the motion sensor on your Smart Dimmer Switch: Device Settings > Motion > Advanced Motion Settings
There are two settings, one for turn on and one for turn off, to prevent lights from turning on and off too quickly if the motion sensing is right at the threshold.
How do I use the thresholds?
Please go to Settings > Motion > Advanced Motion Settings.
No Motion Threshold: When motion detection falls to this number or below after motion has been registered, we register as "No Motion" and all set devices are deactivated. If you find that lights are turning off when they should have stayed on, lower this setting. If you find that lights are staying on when they should have turned off, raise this number.
Motion Threshold: When motion detection goes to this number or above, register as "Motion" and all set devices are activated. If you find that motion is being registered when it shouldn't raise this setting. If you find that motion is not being registered when it should be, lower this setting.
We recommend that you make small changes, and then repeating the process if the desire still has not been met.
