Identifying Light Bulb Wattage On a Circuit

The easiest way to identify the wattage on any one circuit is to see which light bulbs turn on and off when you flip the switch on and off.  From there, you can look directly at the light bulbs to find out the wattage.

Here are some common places the wattage will be printed on your light bulb.

On the Side of the Bulb

On the Base of the Bulb

If the switch controls more than one bulb, add the wattages together to get the total wattage on the switch.
